About Our Project
By the year 2030 the United Nations wants to end world hunger and food insecurity. In order to do this we want to grow food for our community in the courtyard out at our school. We are using left over food items from discarded student lunches in the cafeteria to feed our garden and promote sustainable ways to grow food. The food we grow will be donated to "Backpack Friends," an organization that provides backpacks full of food for hungry children in our local community each weekend. The goal is to end world hunger by 2030!. We at SBMS are working towards this goal by educating our school community on sustainable agricultural practices that require little to no resources and providing fresh food to children in our community.
